Lil' Bit of Love

TWO blog posts in ONE day. I'm not sure this allowed. But I just wanted to show off a little of the love a received and a little of the love I gave on Valentines yesterday.

Here is what I gave:

Gift for Emilie...frozen wine cocktails.
My roomies all got ICED. Though, it was really just so I could have an excuse to craft the case container. Which I am keeping to use next year...

I also made Becca a gift that I had better not show photographed, but I think she appreciated it.

And these are the gifts I received:

From my two favorite men on campus and in the world...as the note (truthfully) read. Trever and Taylor got me chocolate turtles and Vodka to wash away the single-sadness on Vday night. Hahaha...are you starting to notice an alcohol theme to this holiday?
Cookie ingredients from my little chef Em...check out her blog for tasty/crafty ideas!
Jordan (one of my other roommates) made us three different types of chocolate truffles that were auhhhmazing. Nom nom.

Aaaaand Abbie gets me eye make-up remover...for all those tears I'm drunkenly crying on this lovely day.

I like to joke, but I'm alright being single on Vday. I think it makes you appreciate the multitude of non-romantic relationships in your life. I guess I'm pretty lucky to have cookies, truffles, turtles, booze and Abbie's harsh humor. I was well loved on Valentines.

Diving In: Strat Comm Career Fair

Tomorrow is the Missouri School of Journalism Strategic Communications Career Fair.
I am terrified.

I used to feel pretty confident about my creativity, but being at the third best Journalism school in the country will make you doubt yourself a little. As my Strat Comm friends will tell you, it's competitive. But I knew that coming in.

I receive about a thousand emails a week from the Missouri School of Journalism list serve and most make me nervous...so I delete them immediately. With the approaching fair however, I have gotten one of these everyday:

Yet I still put off preparation as long as possible.
Being that it is now the day before, I'm finally starting to get things together. These gotten-together things include:
- resume perfected, and printed
- portfolio pieces selected, and printed
- pieces organized in portfolio
- outfit chosen, and ironed
- pep-talk with Trever
- written questions to ask companies

So this is what I'm wearing:

Please give me feedback...is this a horrible idea??

I really feel very unprepared and inexperienced, not to mention extremely nervous. But this is how I get better. If nothing else, this is great practice; being one experience away from inexperienced. That has to be good for something, right? The only way I'm going to get over this sad little fear is to take off the towel and jump in the water...I always hated creeping down the steps one at a time.

Stuffed Peppers with Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme

If you saw my last food-related blog (Cooking in College), I mentioned my dear Emilie Bell. I referenced her blog and how incredible it was...but claimed I felt inferior to its standard of excellence. Being the darling girl that she is, she asked if I had any special requests and offered to find a simple, Kaitlin-level recipe that I could do. And she did, in the form of delicious stuffed peppers. Well, I'm not sure if they are delicious because they are still in the oven...but the smell is wafting and I can tell they're gonna be good.

I have never had so many things going on at once...but I think I handled it well.

NOM NOM NOMMY! NOM NOM.

In closing. I hope you are up to the challenge of these peppers, because they are so worth it! And...if you feel these aren't challenging enough, Em has some fabulous looking treats that you are welcome to cook for ME anytime you'd like. Valentine's is coming up, you know, and I would just die for a homemade meal cooked with love.

The Casablanca (Kaitlin's) Craftnook

This lovely Wednesday broke a six-day working streak. I celebrated by eating funfetti cake for breakfast, running in the lovely weather and skipping all my classes. I bummed around and watched some TV for a while when I got the idea to organize my craft supplies (this is an enjoyable undertaking for me). Halfway through, Abbie came home and we went to get some Applebee's and Mucho Margaritas. By the time we returned home--after a Third Eye Blind jam session--I had a vision.

There is a small nook on the second floor of Casablanca where we (but really just me) keep random crap. Everyday I pass this nook and am depressed by its poor appearance. However, this is no longer the case. I have transformed this space into THE CASABLANCA CRAFTNOOK (but really just a place for me to store all my craft supplies). Setting this place up was probably the best thing I've done all week. It's incredible what you can do with a free night if you don't go out...

Anyway. Here's my baby:

Still in need of a chair...sooooo...

I love storage space. Found this lovely gem in the Casablanca basement.

 Adhesives.

Because what the heck else are you going to do with your shower caddy now that you don't live in the dorms??
